Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The stats of an item are enhanced by upgrading it, also referred to as "upping". Each upgrade increment results in an increase in linearity of a given stat.
Players can recycle six items at one time to get a gauge of each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling an item varies according to its rarity and.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an item upgrade is a way to boost the stats of your weapons and armor. This can be achieved through various methods such as using upgrade components as well as increasing an item's mark level or rarity. Many items can also be reforged to boost their value.
There are items that can be upgraded throughout the game. They are available in the world as well as rewards for missions. They can also be crafted by players. Upgrade components are the main method of upgrading equipment. These are items that can be inserted into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with upgrade slots, and most require a certain upgrade level. Some upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while others offer general bonuses.
There are many types of upgrade components available in the game, such as universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, such as gems and enchantments, are able to be placed in any equipment type and provide smaller bonuses than those that are equipment-type specific. Glyphs can only be found in gathering tools. They offer a variety of bonuses, ranging from boosting the speed of an item's gathering to supplying additional crafting materials.
Select the item in your inventory, and then open the Upgrade window. This will display an overview on the right side of the screen, showing the expected stats after the upgrade, and any materials or components required. If you do not have enough of either, the Upgrade button will say Blocked.
The amount of upgrade components required for a given item is displayed in the upper-right corner of the window for upgrading. The cost of an upgrade increases with the level of upgrade and rarity, however it can be reduced through many different ways, such as purchasing upgrades from a retailer or trading them to other players.
Most weapons can be improved with a prefix, like a rune or an insignia. Other weapons can be enhanced with a suffix. These upgrades change the name of the item, adding an adjective, like 'Radiant' or 'Minor Vigor. The only exceptions are the noninscribable wands, shields and foci from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, that cannot be upgraded using any kinds of mods.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to convey visual information. They animate in order to draw the attention of the viewer and spark curiosity. The animation of glyphs resembles body language, making them even more effective at conveying the message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs also improve the retention of a message by evoking a familiarity in the brain.
Each glyph has a range of values that it can enhance a stat, as shown on the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use it to enchant an Artifact. This is not the actual amount at which the glyph will increase a stat, but the maximum amount it can do so. The value of the glyph is contingent on the tier and quality of the product you are admiring.
Most upgrade components slotted into items are not able to be repaired or replaced without dismantling the equipment in question, except for legendary equipment and upgrades. However, if you have an unusable rune or glyph that hasn't yet been incorporated into your equipment, you can transfer it to a different piece gear by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu in the Glyphs panel. This will create an entirely new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
If you want to remove the glyph from an item you must salvage it using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item will be destroyed within which it is placed, but you can recover the upgraded item using the glyph and its shards therefore it should not be considered a loss.
A glyph added to an item can cause it to become unstable and the shards that are left of that glyph will disappear from your inventory once you dismantle the item. You can also apply the glyph to your equipment to give it an additional benefit. For example the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and then deal it out slowly instead of all at one time. This is beneficial for players who take many hits from enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens can be used to change the affixes on weapons and other equipment. They can be obtained from a variety of sources, such as mystery boxes or rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Each reroll gives the player an unspecified affix, which is usually better than what they had prior to. Reroll tokens can also be a good method to reroll the stats of a weapon and can be upgraded for better damage or other perks.
Items that have been rerolled may not appear in the upgrade menu, but they still qualify to receive upgrades. These rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the layout of the item window and allows up to six items to recycle. The gauge of level is increased by recycling an item. This amount is determined by the item's rarity and its own level, so higher-level items are more valuable to recycle than lower-level ones.
In addition to tokens for rerolls players can also use Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to roll the weapon traits of an upgraded unit. Rerolls will determine the % chance of a particular weapon trait. If it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded, and if it rolls lower, it remains the same. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.
Rerolling is a fantastic option to upgrade an item. However, players should be aware that the total ilvl is decreased by the number of the rerolls required to bring it to the final ilvl. This effect is most evident on rings and Diadems, since they have no other options to increase the ilvl.
The reroll system has been criticized by players for being too expensive, and it would be more fair to let people pay for it in the form of money or a food item that would allow players to modify their build without a lot of time and effort. The developers aren't planning to offer paid rerolls in this stage of the game's development. Instead, they plan to include a race change potion in the near future.
Leveling

There are a variety of ways to upgrade an item. The first way to level up an upgrade for an item is to increase the amount of upgrade. This increases the upgrade value for a stat. The second option is to boost the effect of the upgrade, which boosts damage or healing for a stat. In addition there is the possibility to upgrade the base item to a higher upgrade type. After this the new item will keep its iLevel but it will have the upgrade effects of the upgraded item type.
It is important to remember that upgrades are not guaranteed. Most of the time, a higher roll is based on the glyphs. However there are occasions when a more or unique roll can occur. In addition the iLevel of an upgrade will be determined by the item type, so should you upgrade a unique or rare item to an exceptional item type it could gain an iLevel that is higher.
The cost of upgrading items can be expensive especially if you're upgrading a piece of equipment from the standard to legendary track. item upgrades of upgrading an item will be contingent on the iLevel it's built upon as well as the amount of upgrade levels. In addition, some upgrade tracks require crests to get to the next upgrade level.
If you're lucky, your upgraded item may get to the top of its upgrade track, and thus unlock an additional benefit. This will provide a significant increase in the value of the item. The bonus effect is different with each upgrade level. In general, the upgrade effect is increased by +3.
Based on the item's level of base and upgrade process, the iLevel for the upgraded item will change too. For example, a weapon that is upgraded from a rare or unique item to an extraordinary item is likely to be upgraded to the Enhanced Defense of the new base type of item.
